This means that instead of using bricks which are quite expensive and takes a lot of time to build, an empty bottle with sand can be used in the construction of your dream house. It still gives it the same structure or design you want – it just means that more bottles have to be used in achieving what you want. It’s economical right?
The first house from this material was built in 2011 by the Development Association for Renewable Energies (DARE) – a non-governmental organization embarked to this almost impossible project to build a two-bedroom bungalow out of plastic bottles filled with sand. The bottles are laid in rows the same way bricks will be positioned and bound together with mud, thereby producing a durable building that is resistant to both bullets and earthquakes.
Yes it’s a house that can act as a shield from bullets, serves you as a secured abode and withstand an unplanned natural disaster. What else can you expect from an economical home like the plastic house?
In a country where plastic bottles are discarded into canals causing stagnancy and flow of water which leads to erosion, irrigation blockages and pollution. With the construction of bottle houses which has taken a reasonable trunk of these waste out of the environment; you might just think twice before disposing of the empty plastic bottles in your home.
