We have several tips and advice on purchasing or renting the perfect property and this isn’t different but emphasises more on the mindset you should have when you go on a property search journey. Some people are taken unawares by the emotional stress they encounter while searching for their ideal property.

Here are 3 tips to help you minimise disappointments during and after the property search process:

1. Understand that rejection is possible:  You must understand that it is purely business for a seller so do not expect sentiments. A buyer with a better offer can come into the picture and get the deal. Even if you think the house would be perfect for you and your family try not to make any decisions that are based on the possibility of the property being yours till you have finalised the deal.

2. Look for your needs over your wants: Most buyers start their property search with a list of needs and wants. Naturally, we humans are insatiable and the reality is that we can never have it all. Always be ready to compromise and ensure your choice property meets your needs before you consider the wants. For instance, if you need a home with a particular number of rooms, it may not be reasonable to abandon the basic requirement of number of rooms just because you’ve seen a house with a fabulous kitchen. Don’t harbour feelings for a home that won’t serve its most important purpose.

3. Know when to move on: As a prospective property buyer or tenant, when issues arise during the inspection phase don’t try to hold on to something that isn’t what you expected. Also, if some components of the deal appear ‘dodgy’, seek advice from a professional or to be more on the safe side, seek something else. You must know when to move on to the next one while you keep hoping for the best.

The more you search the closer you get to your ideal property.
